Laura completed her degree at Westminster College in Oxford. She has been Headteacher at Bearwood for two years and this is her first headship.
She feels lucky to work in the role of Headteacher at Bearwood Primary and Nursery School and is proud of the journey that the school is taking as a ‘good’ school moving towards ‘outstanding’.Laura has gained her experience in a number of primary schools in Reading, Birmingham, Berkshire and Bournemouth.
She is a firm believer in education being about the whole child. She believes that every child should reach their full potential in all areas of school life knowing that they are cared for and supported by a mutually supportive partnership between home, school and the wider community.

Executive Headteacher at Hamworthy Park Junior School and Twin Sails Infant and Nursery School
Damian completed his BA Hons at Worcester and PGCE at Trinity College in Wales with the intention of becoming an Educational Psychologist but fell in love with teaching and 23 years later that love of learning remains.
As a Deputy Head Damian was lucky enough to be a lead consultant teacher for English and Assessment working for Dorset L.A. which enabled him to engage in an Acting Headship in Wimborne. This was followed with Headship in Sandford St Martin in Wareham and led to the Headteacher role at Hamworthy First School and Nursery. Damian led the change of status as Hamworthy First turned into Twin Sails Infant and Nursery. Recently he has taken on the role of Executive Head of the Harbour View Federation leading and supporting the team at Hamworthy Park Junior School. He also works outside the learning community in Hamworthy supporting education groups within the Local Authority and is a member of the South West Executive of the NAHT.
Over the years Damian has witnessed significant change within education and has always ensured that every positive change has been centred on the children we educate. He remains excited about education and views the leading of a school community as a privilege. Damian believes that children should be respected, championed and should never be hindered by a ceiling of low expectation.
Head of School at Hamworthy Park Junior School
James trained on the Poole SCITT in 2003 and took up a Year 6 teaching position at Oakdale Middle School in Poole. After three years he was promoted to leader of Year 4 and leading art and creativity across the school.
In 2009 he moved to what was then Hamworthy Middle School as Assistant Head teacher and teaching across the school over the next few years. After being further promoted to Deputy Head teacher he took over the day to day running of the school in November 2014 after the departure of the current Head teacher. Working alongside Damian Hewitt, Head teacher from Twin Sails Infant School he worked hard to make swift and significant changes to the school.
In September 2015 he took up the permanent position of Head of School. Ofsted rated the school as 'Good' in June 2016 which demonstrated a significant improvement in standards within the school.
James is able to see the strengths in all children and ensures that Hamworthy Park Junior School allows children to engage in a full and varied curriculum ensuring that they have every opportunity to succeed and reach their true potential. He strives tirelessly to ensure that pupils are happy independent learners and our community recognises how he has such a positive impact on the self esteem of our children.

Andrea completed her BSC at Swansea University and PGCE at Exeter. Andrea has worked at Twin Sails for almost ten years as a senior leader, and now as Head of School.
She has play a significant role in managing the different changes the school has faced, from changing our status from a First School into an Infant, increasing our size from a 3 form entry into a 4 form entry school, and leading the infant school into its federated and academy status. Previously, Andrea taught in Southampton, Bournemouth and Poole, across the Primary range and she firmly believes that being a teacher is the most rewarding job.
Andrea has a strong track record of championing young children and works incredibly hard to ensure Twin Sails Infant and Nursery is a positive and happy school, where children can thrive.
