The managed service team

The Managed Service Team support our schools with standards and education, inclusion, behaviour, finance, HR, IT and estates management.


The HR team consists of:

  • Beverley Collins – Head of HR, MCIPD qualified, Mental Health First Aider
  • Cathie Jones – Senior HR Advisor, MCIPD qualified, Mental Health First Aider – covering Portsmouth and Southampton schools
  • Blaire Edwards – HR Advisor, MCIPD qualified, Mental Health First Aider - covering Southampton, Dorset and Poole schools
  • Jo Jones, - HR Assistant , associate member of the CIPD

The HR team have allocated schools for which they are responsible and partner with.  They provide daily email, telephone and face to face HR support for school leaders and senior leadership teams enabling the effective and efficient oversight of all people management processes.  In addition to working with schools on HR case work and employment relations, other areas of responsibility include:

  • Coaching, supporting and training senior leaders throughout the Trust on how to manage and develop their staff
  • Ensuring the schools have up-to-date policies and procedures on all people management issues
  • Providing training on policy and procedure to school leaders and SLT
  • Carrying out HR internal audits (to ensure best practice is followed and legislation complied with)
  • Contributing to the HET health and wellbeing strategy and running termly health and wellbeing meetings for school workplace representatives
  • Holding HR/wellbeing drop in sessions for staff
  • Co-chairing termly business managers meetings


The Trust’s finance team works with its schools in all areas of financial services, including:

  • Support and challenge with financial planning and financial reporting
  • Ensuring best value is achieved
  • Management of the Trust’s financial software and banking arrangements
  • The completion of annual accounts and other statutory/ESFA returns
  • Management of the internal and external audit function across the Trust
  • Support with all areas of finance

Estates and Health & Safety

The estates/ health & safety team consists of:

  • Nikki Thorne – Head of Estates/Health & Safety, Tech IOSH,
  • Graeme Staddon – Estates/H&S Officer ( NEBOSH General Certificate)

The estates team provide daily email and telephone support to all staff across the Trust, including school leaders, business managers and site managers enabling the schools to fulfil their duties under the H&S at Work Act 1974.

In addition to the general day to day queries other areas of support include:

  • H&S training and induction
  • Carrying out H&S internal audits & DFE audits to ensure schools remain compliant
  • Workplace inspections
  • Governor H&S training
  • Policy writing and review
  • Site manager meetings
  • Accident/ incident investigations (staff and pupils)
  • Capital works building projects (including new roofs, school expansions, asbestos removal)


The IT Team works with schools to assist them with all IT aspects including:

  •  the IT techs in schools to make sure school networks are performing effectively
  • schools with budgeting and forecasting with IT requirements
  • group procurement to achieve discounts based on volume
  • schools with large projects, and project managing some of these projects in the absence of on-site IT techs
  • review networks and ensure they meet the needs of the schools
  • with curriculum reviews and check on how IT is being used within curriculum
  • provide training and CPD opportunities to IT techs in certain areas
  • provide training on use of IT in curriculum (interactive screens, tablet teaching, etc)
