Joanne Dorricott

I have been in education since 1999 following 4 years at Chichester University.  I completed 5 years as a class teacher in Southampton and became an English Lead Teacher for the Local Authority.  During this time I was selected by an inspector as one of 200 teachers nationwide to receive an award by the Prime Minister at Downing Street for teaching.  For the last 15 years I have been Headteacher of Glenfield Infants.  During 2012 I became part of a co-headship and now work part time sharing the Headship role with Miss Liz Carrie.

We believe that every child should enjoy learning and always aim to achieve the best they can.  We will strive to provide a fun and relevant curriculum where curiosity and enthusiasm is developed through purposeful experiences.

We will encourage learners to develop respect for themselves, each other, their families, the local community and the environment.  Opportunities will be given for children to become lifelong learners by developing their thinking, creativity, independence and social skills.

At Glenfield we believe that all of the above can only be achieved through working closely with parents as partners.

We serve a catchment area encompassing the edges of Bitterne and the whole of Harefield estate. Harefield is a school where your child comes first. We seek to keep all children safe and happy, working together with parents and the community.

Our prime purpose is to ensure your child has the very best educational opportunities. We passionately believe that every child should have access to the best and make full use of their opportunity to achieve and exceed their potential.

Harefield is an Ofsted graded “outstanding” school. It is also a National Support School – meaning that staff here are used to support other schools in need. This adds to the effectiveness and success of our own school.
