Progression and Career Development

The Trust is passionate about supporting its employees to be the best they can be. There have been a number of very successful secondment opportunities which have given employees access to new experiences and cross-phase working – some of which have resulted in promotion to senior posts.

There are also leadership programmes, the apprenticeship scheme and the opportunity to enhance current skills or learn new ones through fully funded short courses and professional training.

Competitive Pension Schemes

Hamwic Education Trust employees can be part of a highly competitive pension scheme to help you plan for the future. Our support staff are eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and our teaching staff can join the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

Generous Holiday Allowance

Support staff receive generous holiday entitlements in the first instance, plus bank holidays and the number of days of holiday increases with the length of service. Many roles at Hamwic Education Trust are term-time only so if you have a family, you get to share their holidays.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

Hamwic Education Trust offers the services of Education Support, the only UK charity dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of teachers and education staff. All our teachers and education employees can receive immediate, confidential support including advice and counselling by telephone and online.  A further confidential counselling and legal service is available through our partner, Health Assured and we have further developed services this year by employing an in-house Mental Health practitioner who can support individuals and schools with personalised interventions and preventative programmes.

Free Counselling Service

The Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is a free staff counselling service provided by Hamwic Education Trust and offered through Health Assured. Employees can access confidential counselling intended to deal with personal problems that might adversely impact work performance and health and wellbeing.

Employee Benefits Portal

Staff can access a huge range of discounts provided via our partner Viv Up. From discounts that reduce the cost of the weekly shop, to exclusive deals on holidays and keeping active

 

Gym Membership

Employees can join selected Everyone Active Leisure Centres and pay a special rate per month to include access to the gym, exercise classes and swimming pool.

The Trust recognise all teaching and education support staff trade unions and professional associations. We have good working relationships, have policy working parties and consult with trade unions and professional associations throughout the year.
