Weston Park Primary – Match of the Day

Weston Park Primary – Match of the Day

Weston Park Primary School will be featured in the community segment of MOTD on Sunday 12th February.

As part of the ongoing work between Weston Park Primary and the Saints Foundation through the VAWG programme (Violence Against Women and Girls) a group of Year 6 pupils were invited to take part in an event at Staplewood Football Development and Support Centre.

Given the high media focus of this topic, the children were really excited to be a part of BBC’s Match of the Day. Some of the children and staff from Weston Park were interviewed as part of our ongoing work on tolerance and respect.

The children took part in a range of activities focused on gender stereotypes, they spoke articulately and shared considered ideas.  They demonstrated confidence in their views whilst respecting those of others, engaging well with the adults from the Foundation and Saints Women’s team; we were joined by Saint’s coach and two players.

The children were rewarded with the chance to train in ‘The Dome,’ and watch some B training. They returned to school with a signed t-shirt.

Tune in to see how incredible the children were on BBC Match of the Day soon!
